About ME

Piper Mae

Hey there!

I’m a performance artist based in Australia, bringing playful, bold, high-energy entertainment to stages, festivals, and events around the country.

My main disciplines are hula hoop and fire twirling, with a big soft spot for children’s entertainment. A clown at heart, play sits at the core of my expression.

Alongside hoop and fire, I also dabble in juggling, magic tricks, giant bubbles, face painting and balloon twisting. My latest obsession is handstands! I’ve been performing professionally for the past three years, and what keeps me coming back to the stage is simple: I genuinely want to make people smile and feel entertained. In a world that can feel heavy, I believe play, movement, and shared moments matter.

My Story

My journey as an artist began a little off the beaten path, somewhere between neuroscience and a unicycle. While completing my undergraduate degree in Psychological Science, I decided to take up circus classes as a hobby.

I’ve always loved movement, yoga, dance, and pretty much anything that lets the body express what words sometimes can’t. I’ve also been endlessly fascinated by people, the mind, and human behaviour. During my studies, I learned how powerful the mind is. The capacity to learn, adapt, and reshape. Little did I know, those same principles would come in handy while learning how to keep multiple hoops spinning at once.

When I finished my degree, I had two options: pursue a career in psychology or run away with the circus (metaphorically, and quite literally).

If psychology taught me anything, it’s that we all have the ability to design our own lives. So, I chose to create one filled with movement, creativity, and hula hoops (lots of them)!

Since then, I’ve been performing and teaching across Queensland, working as a children’s entertainer, creating fire and hoop shows, and helping others connect with their bodies as a personal trainer.

My goal as an artist is simple: to remind people of what’s possible. When we witness someone performing, fire, dancing, hooping, or transforming a space with presence, we’re not just watching a skill. We’re witnessing courage, creativity, and the beauty of human potential in motion.
